Apple has received a new patent for the hospitality industry, revealing the possibility of developing a special hotel app for iPhone and Apple Watch. In a statement made by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), this patent offers a series of features that will completely transform the hotel experience for travelers.
The proposed hotel app aims to improve the ease and efficiency of hotel stays, with a comprehensive platform that allows users to make reservations, check in, order room service, control room settings and access concierge services, according to Apple's patent disclosure, as compiled by tourism FM technology editors. In addition, the app will facilitate check-outs and assist with transportation services such as taxi bookings or car rentals.
To make this experience seamless, Apple emphasizes the importance of integrating hotel systems with a variety of other areas, and says that users will be able to interact with different devices throughout their stay. With the app, users will be able to use their phones to make reservations, check in at the front desk, order entertainment options from the TV menu, and talk one-on-one with the concierge to get local advice and guidance. The planned hotel app will integrate iPhones and Apple Watches with the hotel infrastructure, enabling direct access to ordering services, room checks and other hotel amenities.
It will also provide comprehensive information about nearby attractions, shopping centers and stores, meeting guests' needs on a single platform.
