According to the VisaGuide World index, a website that publishes news on visa information, Spain has the world's strongest passport, while Japan, one of Asia's leading rich countries, is the only country outside Europe to rank 15th among the countries with the strongest passports.
According to the latest index, Germany ranked 3rd, followed by Italy, France, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Hungary, Luxembourg, Portugal, Hungary, Luxembourg and Italy. Austria ranked 16th, followed by Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Ireland and Poland in the top 20.
In the list of 200 countries, Turkey ranked 94th in the list as before, while Singapore ranked first in the Henley Passport Index announced in October.
Both the Henley Passport Index, which is updated quarterly, and the VisaGuide World Passport Index scrutinise the number of destinations that passport holders can access without a visa. VisaGuide World, on the other hand, creates a destination importance score for each travel destination, taking into account other factors and evaluating the country's GDP, global power and tourism development as important criteria.
As of December 2023, Spanish passport holders can travel to 160 countries and territories without a visa. Although Singapore passport holders can visit 164 countries, Spain stands out more in this list as it can only travel with an identity card within the European Union.
