Ilya Umanskiy, President of the Russian Tourism Industry Association (RST), recalling earlier expectations that about 7 million Russian tourists could visit Turkey in 2023, said that the increase in tour prices could restrict the number of tourists visiting Turkey.
5.2 million Russian citizens went to Turkey this year compared to last year's 7 million, but unfortunately, due to changes in the price of holidays in Turkey and national currencies, these forecasts have not materialized so far, RST President Umanskiy noted that prices in Turkey have increased significantly, the increase in the price of summer holidays in Turkey reached 47 percent, and this year the tourist flow will remain approximately the same as last year.
Noting that the 47 percent increase in tour prices includes a 30 percent increase in prices in Turkey, as well as the change in exchange rates, RST President Umanskiy added that while the average invoice amount for tours to Turkey last year was about 170 thousand rubles (about 50,500 TL), this year it was 250 thousand rubles (about 74,200 TL).
