Hotel room service can offer a personalised dining experience, but some customers are taking it to the next level.
According to the first Room Service Report released by hotel booking site Hotels.com, guests can turn to room service with unusual requests, from Diet water to melted ice cream. According to 40 per cent of hotels surveyed, demand for room service is growing, and hotels around the world are responding by offering unorthodox room service menus.
From hosting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the room to lego sets on silver platters, hotels are diversifying their offerings to meet almost any request.
According to Hotels.com, hamburgers have overtaken classic sandwiches as the most ordered room service product, with hamburgers accounting for 40 per cent of room service orders as a result of a survey of hundreds of hotels to research global trends.
Interest in vegan and vegetarian products has also increased, with 55 per cent of hotels surveyed reporting a greater increase in vegan orders than vegetarian or dairy-free options.
According to the report, which also calculates how much customers spend on room service, one third of the hotels' customers spend at least 116 euros per night for room service.
