Sunexpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, which extends the tourism season with more than 2 thousand additional flights and carries nearly 10 million passengers with an occupancy rate of 88 percent in the first three quarters of 2023, has added 15 new routes to its flight network by increasing its winter capacity in order to spread tourism throughout the year.
Max Kownatzki, CEO of SunExpress, stated that sunexpress has carried approximately 10 million passengers since the beginning of 2023 and that they have increased the capacity for the October-December period after September in order to meet the ongoing demand after the summer season and that SunExpress has invested in the winter season as well and that Turkey is an important tourism destination not only in the summer season but also all year round with its history, nature, local cuisine and infrastructure for sports tourism.
Max Kownatzki, CEO of SunExpress, stated that their aim is to ensure that the numbers do not decrease even after the end of summer, and that they have shifted the season to the period they call winter for this purpose, and that the additional capacity created after summer until the end of the year has reached more than 2 thousand additional flights, which means 400 thousand additional seats.
