Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, operated by TAV Airports, welcomed sunexpress flights from Barcelona and Venice. 153 passengers from Barcelona and 54 passengers from Venice arrived in Izmir.
According to tourism news Center, the news source of Turkey's tourism sector, SunExpress will operate reciprocal flights between Izmir and Barcelona every Sunday until September 24, while direct flights between Izmir and Venice will continue twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays until September 27.
Stating that they are delighted to welcome the first direct flights from Barcelona and Venice to Izmir after five years, TAV Aegean General Manager Erkan Balcı said that they are working with all their strength together with their stakeholders to increase the number of destinations that can be flown directly to Izmir and to promote the city, and that 32 airlines currently fly to 58 destinations in 33 countries on international routes and four airlines fly to 20 destinations on domestic routes from the airport.
Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport served 2 million 777 thousand 462 passengers in the first four months of the year with an increase of 17 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same period, international traffic increased by 32 percent.
