According to the news radio of the tourism sector, Tourism FM, the Saudi Ministry of Tourism announced that tourist spending increased by 42.8 per cent compared to the previous year, and that the expenditures of Saudi citizens in other countries increased to 86.9 billion Saudi Arabian riyals in 2023.
In 2023, tourism revenues exceeded 34.9 billion Saudi Arabian riyals, an increase of 48 billion Saudi Arabian riyals compared to 2022, and tourists visiting Saudi Arabia in 2023 spent a record total of 135 billion Saudi Arabian riyals (36 billion US dollars), the Saudi Ministry of Tourism said in a statement on the social media platform X, indicating a 42.8 percent increase compared to 2022, when tourists spent 94.5 billion Saudi Arabian riyals.
The Saudi Ministry of Tourism also announced that spending by Saudi citizens traveling to other countries as tourists increased from 59.7 billion Saudi Arabian riyals in 2022 to 86.9 billion Saudi Arabian riyals in 2023.
In 2023, the tourism balance sheet surplus reached nearly 48 billion Saudi Arabian riyals, exceeding the 34.9 billion Saudi Arabian riyals recorded in 2022.
