According to the information obtained about the disastrous incident that occurred in the luxury hotel in Istanbul Beyoğlu Meşrutiyet Mahallesi, 61-year-old diplomat Nikolai Kobrinets who served as the General Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, came to Istanbul yesterday to attend the ambassadors meeting.
Around 14.00, the diplomat arrived at the luxury hotel in Taksim and settled in his room and stayed there, but did not come to the meeting in the morning, and his colleagues, who were curious about the diplomat, asked his hotel to ask for him.
After the diplomat could not be reached and the hotel staff entering the room saw the russian diplomat motionless on the bed, the medical teams who came to the scene upon notification determined that the diplomat died.
According to the initial investigations of the forensic physician, public prosecutor and crime scene investigation teams, the diplomat is thought to have died of a heart attack.
After the studies, the body of the diplomat was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution morgue in Bahçelievler Yenibosna to determine the exact cause of death, while the investigation on the subject is reported to be ongoing.
