In the Greek island of gavdos, which has become the center of nudists in the Aegean, the municipality's erection of no nudity signs on the beaches famous for its golden yellow beaches shocked the nudists who come to the island every year and swim naked.
Hundreds of nudists who reacted to the municipality's decision by stripping naked in front of the municipality's sign that says nudity is forbidden, stating that it cannot be forbidden to swim naked and integrate with nature on the island, whose nature has been unspoiled for thousands of years, dismantled the signs erected by the municipality and threw them away after they protested the municipality and carried the situation to the international platform.
The female mayor of the island, Lilian Stefanaki, who was infuriated by the removal of the official warning signs erected by the municipality as well as the protests of nudists, had the no nudity signs she had prepared erected on the beaches again and published a new announcement on the official page of the municipality, stating that they would not step back from the decision.
The Mayor of Gavdos declared his determination not to back down until the nudists come to their senses and put on their swimsuits on the beach and announced: "Once again, the signs placed by Gavdos Municipality on the beaches on the island have been removed and destroyed by unknown persons. Gavdos Municipality has once again taken the legal actions to protect public property. It also erected new signs. The struggle will continue.
