According to the law approved by the Egyptian House of Representatives, those who come to Egypt as tourists are expected to pay 100 Egyptian liras when leaving the country.
Tax will be added to airfare
According to the decision taken by the Egyptian House of Representatives, foreign tourists visiting the Red Sea, South Sinai, Luxor, Aswan and Marsa Matruh will pay an exit tax of 50 Egyptian pounds when leaving the country. In the case of departures from Cairo, 100 Egyptian pounds will be paid. The tax will be added to the price of the plane ticket.
Tourists will also pay taxes for free-shop purchases at Egyptian airports. The Egyptian government aims to contribute 5 billion Egyptian pounds to the budget with the taxes imposed on tourists.
