Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo who halted plans to build a £27 million luxury hotel in Manchester despite being granted planning permission, received planning permission in December 2020 to build an exclusive 151-room CR7 Hotel in the centre of the city, but the building fell into ruins.
While the hotel is expected to open this year, employ more than 900 people and contribute £ 56 million to the local economy, a spokesperson for hotel group Pestana, the partner of famous football player Ronaldo's CR7 hotels said in a statement: "The next steps of the project are pending as we are still working on permitting issues.
The project, which continues to have problems with the inability of investors to provide the necessary financing, was a joint venture between Pestana and the developer Eastern Green, Southern Green Properties.
The plans included a 151-room four-star hotel a rooftop terrace for guests and visitors, a gym and two bars in the trendy Northern Quarter.
Cristiano Ronaldo's CR7 brand already has hotels in Time Square in New York, his native Madeira, Lisbon, Portugal and Madrid, Spain.
