In the last 10 years, turkey has been the leader in Europe with a performance of around 50 percent in the numerical increase of total facility bed supply, while countries such as Spain and Italy, with which we compete in terms of the number of tourists, have increased their bed supply by around 7-8 percent.Countries such as France and Greece stagnated and partially declined. In the European region, the total number of beds increased slightly by around 7 percent.FRANCE AND ITALY LEAD IN THE NUMBER OF HOTEL BEDSAccording to information compiled by Tourism Databank from Eurostat data, in the last 10 years (2014-2023), Italy will increase from 4.87 to 5.20 million beds, while France will decrease from 5.13 million to 5.09 million. Spain went from 3.52 million to 3.82 million in this period, followed by Germany from 3.34 million to 3.66 million.On the other hand, Turkey, which has set records in terms of tourist numbers and tourism revenues, increased its hotel bed supply by around 50 percent, from 1.2 million to 1.8-2 million. The 3-4 star bed density in European countries and competitors is observed as 5 stars in Turkey.
