According to the analysis made by Tourism FM, the news radio of the tourism sector, from the national data of the countries, in the first 7 months of 2023, the highest hotel occupancy in 2023 was recorded in Croatia with 89 per cent among the rival tourism destinations of Turkey in the Mediterranean basin.
In hotel occupancy, Croatia was followed by Greece with 78 per cent, Spain 74 per cent, Italy 71 per cent, Turkey 70 per cent and France 60 per cent in this month.
Compared to 2022; Itayla 5 points, Greece 2.5 points and Spain increased by 0.13 points, while the highest decrease was seen in France with 4 points and Turkey with 2.5 points. Croatia, which achieved the highest hotel occupancy rates in 7 months of 2023, decreased by 1.3 points compared to 2022.
However, total overnight stays in hotels in the 5 tourism destinations rivaling Turkey in the Mediterranean basin increased to 631 million and foreign tourist overnight stays to 361 million. According to the analysis made from the national data of the countries, in the 7-month period of 2023, total overnight stays in hotels increased by 6.5 percent to 631 million and foreign tourist overnight stays increased by 10.5 percent to 361 million in the 5 destinations that receive the most tourists in the Mediterranean.
Spain ranked first in foreign tourist overnight stays with 125 million, followed by Italy with 72 million, Turkey with 68 million, France with 46 million and Greece with 51 million. The country with the highest increase in foreign tourist overnight stays compared to 2022 was France with 22 per cent, Italy with 18 per cent and Spain with 15 per cent, while Greece recorded a growth of 10 per cent. Foreign tourist overnight stays in Turkey contracted by 18.5 per cent.
