With the recent depreciation of the Turkish Lira against foreign currencies, Turkey has become a popular destination for many British citizens and the British Foreign Office has issued a warning to its citizens traveling to Turkey.
In a guide prepared by the Ministry for British tourists, it is stated that British tourists should be careful in Turkey. In the statement, which predicts that more than one million Britons will come to Turkey on vacation, it is recommended not to go within 10 kilometers of the Syrian border and not to go to the cities of Şırnak and Hakkari.
In the statement, it was emphasized that no trip can be guaranteed to be safe and that those traveling to Turkey should take out appropriate travel insurance.
British officials told the Independent: "The safety of British citizens is our main concern. We regularly review travel advice for each country and region. The changes in travel advice on terrorism show that the terrorist threat may now come from a more diverse range of groups."
While the British warned their citizens with such statements in certain periods, the British had come to the agenda with similar announcements in the past.
